Mark Porter, a nuclear engineer at Framatome (formerly AREVA), will talk about his company's contribution to DOE's Accident Tolerant Fuel program and the advantages of this advanced nuclear fuel over conventional nuclear fuel.
Mark Porter is a Professional Engineer with Framatome in Richland, Washington. He received his Bachelors of Engineering in Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Science from the University of Michigan in 2000 and Masters in Nuclear Engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 2008. He worked for Westinghouse as a PWR core analysis engineer from 2000 to 2008. In 2008, he relocated to Chattanooga, Tennessee, continuing work in PWR core design and analysis for Tennessee Valley Authority, the nation’s largest public utility. At Framatome since 2016, he has worked with the BWR Neutronics Design and Analysis team to optimize fuel utilization, maintain safety margins, and address operational considerations.
