The members of American Nuclear Society Eastern Washington Section and Columbia Chapter of the Health Physics Society have long recognized the need for a venue to achieve a singularly complex goal: to bring together recent research and studies on the biological effects of low-level radiation, in order to provide a basis for reconsideration of current standards of protection. In 2015 the combined organizations established a planning committee to create a conference addressing that challenging goal. It seemed appropriate to schedule such significant event to convene during the week of 2018 when our community will be celebrating an important 75th anniversary -- the successful startup of the first full scale, fully instrumented, nuclear production reactor and the clear establishment of a separate field of science focused on nuclear radiation.
We welcome you to join us in this significant endeavor. Applicability of Radiation-Response Models to Low Dose Protection Standards is designed to encompass consideration of all aspects of the issues. We are hope to provide you a memorable technical, historic, and social experience. The Columbia River is a spectacle at any season, and our vineyards, orchards, and surrounding grandeur are a vision to behold at harvest time.
